The Red Tag
This pattern has a long story. It was first tied during the middle of the 19th century by Martyn Flynn in the north country of England.
The Red Tag was designed for dry-fly fishing for grayling and trout, during the next decades clever fly tiers start to tie this pattern in different variations for wet-fly and nymphing.
For its naturally bright property, the original pattern is made with peacock herl; thanks to the technology nowadays we can tie it in a different and modern way. We use strands of synthetic sparkle material; it makes the body brighter and more durable.
Tungsten Bead Nymphs
The tungsten plays a crucial role to let the nymph sink.
Nymphs with large beads play them best in deep and fast water, while nymphs with small bead are more suitable for shallow or slow water or to be used as a dropper.
