The Woolly Bugger

The WB is an essential pattern to have in the box. It imitates a large variety of fish food like leeches, baitfish and giant aquatic insects like stoneflies.
The WB is attractive for many species of fish, both freshwater and saltwater.
If the water is dirty, it can be a “day saver”: sometimes the classic techniques with dry-fly, wet-fly or nymphs fishing don’t work, this is the right moment to use a Woolly Bugger.
Most anglers use this pattern by stripping the line, like every other streamer, but it works well even if it fished like a nymph.

The original Woolly Bugger was first created by the American fly tyer Russell Blessing in 1967,  for its proven efficacy soon become a popular pattern.
